Milano fashion week part 4

Ciao ciao ciao!

Good morning! It's 7am and I am not wanting to get out of bed. I motivate myself and wake up and make some coffee. I love my coffee in the mornings. After I wake up a bit more, I call home and check in. My heart is now at peace...I jump in the shower and get ready. So far I have 6 castings today. I check the routes I will be taking (which I go over every night and write them out) and I pack up my things for the day. As I am putting my portfolio in my bag my agent calls and adds on another casting for a magazine. Ok! I have to redo my routes and hurry because I need to make the first 3 castings by 12! I rush to the metro station.

I make it to the area where I need to be but I am having a hard time finding the street...where are you? I have been circling little blocks for like 20 minutes. I didnt do a very detailed job mapping this one out... Ahh I see another model. I start to follow her as it looks like she is using her GPS. I wish mine was working. But I tell myself it's a good brain exercise to memorize directions haha we make it to the casting. The clients are lovely - show my book, walk, take Polaroids. And I'm finished - perfect and there was no line! I switch from my high heels to my sneakers, and head back to the metro station. I will admit I was a little lost finding it, because I didn't pay attention at all while I was following the model from the metro area to the casting, but with the help of some pedestrians I was able to make my way to the station :)

I arrive at the next casting for a magazine. They love me. The want to set up an editorial after the shows in Paris. The woman says tell your agency we are so happy they sent you and we really hope to work with you. Great feedback. I love these kind of castings haha

I have no problem finding my way back to the metro station this time and take it a few stops where I get out and take a tran a few more stops. It's nice out today. I even added an extra layer since I was so cold yesterday. I take it off. No need for it today. At least not with all of this running around! In crowded crowded metro's and trams! I arrive at my next casting. Say hello and hand over my book. The man says wow you have really blonde hair, the women, yes to blonde actually. I smile. They ask to see me walk, I do it and they say great thank you for coming! And that's that. I pack up my things and look at the time. I have 1 and a half hours until my next few castings. I take a stroll and try taking pictures. No memory card. Whaaaat? Darn it! I must have left it back at home! I decide go all the way back to the model apartments and I grab a bite to go on the way.

Finally I make it home and eat my lunch. Rest a bit and most importantly pick up my memory card! I need to take my pictures! This city is so full of inspiring things!

As I am packing up and getting ready to head back out again my agent calls me. Kiera, you have a callback. I am emailing it now. I check the email, Roberto Cavalli. Yippeee, I smile. I add the new casting to my list. And map it out. Now I have four more castings.

I head back out to the streets of milano - making my way to the castings. I am just so greatful I get to do what i LOVE. And yes, its busy and pretty exhausting. But its worth every second of it.

The castings go well. I mean, you never know like i said in the other post, until you hear if you book the job or not. The last casting I go on, the woman tells me we are booking you on this show, the other two will be options. They ask about my tattoo's and the woman says, they are fine, if anything we cover them up. So that sounded promising. Only good things to come. And i will only keep working harder and harder for them! Also the last casting I was at, they took all three of my cards I had left. So i call my agency to tell them I am out of cards and need to pick some up before my castings in the morning, and they tell me to come in asap and let me know I had another casting. So overall today that was 9 castings. Which is great. But on the walk home, i was feeling a little zombie-ish. The trip home seemed extra long.

It is now 9pm. What a long exciting day full of rushing from one casting to the next. These are the memories I live to make. There is nothing like these experiences to me. My body is super tired, from head to toe. Carrying around a bag with my book, heels, and other things I may need throughout the day, add's alot of extra weight to my trips. At least its great exercise. And how many beautiful things I get to see on my way to and from the castings. Sometimes we forget that there is so much more going on in the world, than what is going on in our minds. And it just takes a moment to pause and look around and see beauty everywhere. To be in the moment. Not worrying about the future, or digging into the past moments, but looking around you and seeing the beauty that surrounds you at any given moment. Miracles surround us. :) I am super grateful this evening. I Look forward to what tomorrow will bring. Wishing you all a wonderful day/night....

To those who asked questions I will be writing a specific blog for Q's and A's of fashion week and will post it later this week <3 Please feel free to send more questions my way.

Lots of love. I am off to catch as much sleep as I can get. God bless and #liveingratitude #liveinlove

october 12--october 19 2014 busy week <3

So excited to start this new blog, and to share with you all what goes on in my world...a little more behind the scenes than just what you see in the final pictures <3

For my first post, I will share with you what I was up to last week. It was a very exciting, very busy week. Full of shows, speaking engagements, photoshoots, and filming a short film <3

It was LA fashion week, in which I walked for 13 designers. Before I get into all the shows and pictures, first, I just want to take a minute and say how grateful I am to be surrounded by absolutely inspiring amazing creative individuals. It is what I love most about my career. Secondly, I am so blessed to have so many wonderful genuinely good people in my life. One of the best things about this last week, having people who I love all around me. I am so thankful God has put so many wonderful people in my life. This goes from the designers, the photographers, the models, the makeup artists and hair stylists, the event staff and interns, and friends that came to support the shows. IT means alot. You all mean alot.

Here are a few of my favorite looks I wore during LA fashion week

Once I get all the images from all the shows, i will update my runway portion of the website...

Here is a little something you may not know of behind the scenes during the shows...

It amazes me the talent level of the hair stylists and makeup artists - on Friday I had 5 shows, and very little time to get from one look to the next, like a matter of minutes, yet somehow they were able to transform my hair and makeup along with other models right in time. This happens every year, but somehow I find myself nervous and running around crazy backstage, trying to get ready for the next show asap...but it always comes out just fine. I dont know why i let myself get nervous...its all part of the experience- Backstage can get very stressful as its a lot of hurrying up and waiting...but over all once my heels walk down that runway, I am home.

Now even though it was LAFW - I had other work to attend too...

I absolutely LOVED being at a high school... I know I am weird, but I loooove school...maybe a little to much, haha... The students at Grand Terrace were wonderful. It was a pleasure sharing my experiences with them, and talking about the fashion industry. I love inspiring people, especially the youth <3
