Ahh biongiorno Milano :) Yes - the rain is dying down! (It rained all day yesterday!) It's already pretty cold outside. I don't want to be wet and cold. I have 7 castings today, all of them for fashion week. I had a few castings yesterday as well. Okay I wanted to tell you guys to ask me questions....What do you guys want to hear about or know about that have to do with castings or fashion week from the models point of view... I am going to do a few blogs and include other models in them as well...and i want to have questions from you guys for them!!!
I am now sitting on the tram to my first casting of the day. While I was passing through the duomo a bit ago on my way to this train, I get stopped by these men who were trying to make me wear these bracelets. I said no thank u, than again I said NO, they were already tying them on my wrists- I was like excuse me/ I'm late I have to leave- they told me to do it for Africa- they were demanding and wouldn't give me my hand back - so I'm now wearing these three string bracelets...lol for Africa! Let's see if they bring me any luck today! Haha
All of my castings today are spread out all over Milan, so it will be a lot of walking and trains, metros and buses for me today. I can almost see the sun coming out. Please come out! The rain just makes me want to curl up and read under comfy blankets! I arrive at my stop and get off. Find the correct address and arrive at the first casting. I take off all of my layers and change from my flats to my heels. As do the other 20 models here. I meet with the clients- the man says ahh Kiera, I know you! They look at my book and ask me to walk. I do my thing. They take Polaroids and I'm off. The funny thing about castings is you never know how they go until you get a call from your bookers telling you -you book a job. The clients see so many models. I didn't see these clients take anyone else's Polaroids so it give me hope on this booking. But my method is I show my work. And offer my best and let the results go. Onto the next casting! I put my book and heels back in my bag and put my flats back on. Next train ride adventure. 40 minutes later. I arrive. I walk down an alleyway an find the address. I buzz the studio number and they let me in. The door is something special. They have 5'10+ models walking through a door thats maybe 4 feet..the door looks like its 40 feet but only the small little door in the door opens..

Off to the next casting!
Made it to my next casting, this is one of the castings I was supposed to do yesterday but when I showed up, no one was here. So here I am again walking to the address. Please be here- this casting is so far out of the way of the other castings!! At least it is not raining today! Just a bit chilly. And again no one is here- so I call the agency and let them know. It seems last minute the clients relocated. So I hurry back to the tram and take it to a bus and than walk through 10 minutes to the next casting. I arrive and there are about 30 girls ahead of me. Hurry up to wait. This casting goes very well they take my picture- and ask me to stay while they send the other girls out that were in the room with me. They talk about me and my face in Italian and than say ok thank you Kiera. Haha fun stuff. I take my heels off and put my walking shoes on. I have enough time to stop by home and rest for a minute before my next few castings. It is already 3pm, so I only have about 45 mins til I need to leave.
Okay on my way to the next one. I make my way there. Yes! The sun came out, it's still freezing but at least it's not raining and the sun looks beautiful! Haha I think I'm missing my California weather! I walk towards the address of this next casting...It's in a very crowded place- seems that they are having a street market. I don't have time to look at all the items for sale in the tents but I glance. I have two hours to make both castings. I rush through the crowds trying not to shove anyone and arrive at the casting. There is a long line. I wait outside in this very long line and watch the sun go down. The wait is over 1 hour and 30 mins. I am so cold at this point I'm shivering and I can't stop. I try moving around to loosen up my muscles so I am able to walk! I finally do my casting- they take pictures. When I leave the line is even longer than when I was in it. I rush to my next casting which is done at 6pm - it is currently 6:06 but I figure it can't hurt to see if they are still casting, maybe there is a line? I hurry there and luckily get there right at 6:30. There is no wait, in the only model. So they look at my book, talk about me and the pictures - tell me they love my look and ask me to walk for them. I do. They ask if I can show them a stronger walk. I pray my legs thaw from freezing all day so I can. I give them what I got!
I finally finish my castings and rush home! I'm starving and it's been a long day. I can't wait to eat- take a hot shower and lie down! See it's not all simple and beautiful like what you see in fashion shows- there is so much that goes on behind the scenes of putting the shows together in every way, models, designers, casting directors. A lot of hard work put into every single show! It's amazing. I take the metro back home and relax, go over my list of castings tomorrow and job options coming up. It's all very exciting and I can't wait to share more with you! So happy to bring you guys on this journey! Lots of love xoxoxo
